September 2007 saw Deeping Diamonds form its under 9’s team. Aged seven and eight they began with basic training techniques to help develop their balls skills. At this stage some of the girls were unsure of how to kick a ball, which goal to shoot at and the general rules of the game. Through their dedication and commitment to training the girls have progressed impressively.
As there was no current league they could enter the girls played various friendly matches against older teams, mixed teams and even boys teams. They battled and performed well on each occasion with a mixture of wins, draws and losses, although playing more and more as a team on each occasion.
At the end of the season saw all this effort put to the test in a number of tournaments with the girls reaching the semi finals in two of them, and winners of the fair play medals in another.
The honours list for the season was as follows
Managers Player Imogen Thorpe
Players Player Stephanie Northen
Team Player Alison Stokoe
