This was going to be a test for the girls as their last encounter with Estover U12's ended with a 10-1 defeat. With Estover being a much larger side than some of the Deeping girls it was going to be a show of determination to ensure any chance of a result. Right from the off you could see it was going to be a hard fought match and throughout the first half the Deeping girls were definitely the better side. This led to a well deserved goal slotted home by Ali with her endless runnning into the box. The midfield worked endlessly with Sian working the left, Emily in the middle and Immy on the right. Holly and Steph held the defence and Bella was outstanding in goal once again. What seemed to get through Holl and Steph was dealt with,by Bella being confident enough to come out of goal and clear the ball away when she had to. With ten minutes to go Emily took a knock to the knee and came off, along with Holly who was short of breath from the endless running. Steph dropped off the player to act as a holding role with Grace slotting in to mark Estover's number 9 who was causing trouble, but Grace's endless tank of energy proved too much and she kept the No.9 at bay. Kelsie slotted into centre midfield and seemed at home from the start with wonderful link up play between the three in midfield of Kelsie, Sian and Immy and the Estover goal was under attack once again. Ali put a couple just inches wide, with their defence especially their No. 2 having a great game.
The second half started and you could see the Estover girls had been geared up from the manager as they came out fighting and The Deeping girls were on the back foot right from the start. They continued to battle against a much stronger side and Estover slotted home what seemed to be an easy goal.
This shook the girls a little and after a few minutes they regained their composure to see them hassle for the ball and play some wonderful football. Both teams could have stole the second goal but a 1-1 draw is was to be.
Once again another great team performance from the girls, especially from the defence.
Player of the match Holly.
